About

BattleBytes is a global conflict monitor. It puts every active armed conflict we track on one map: a globe that shows where fighting is happening, and battlefield maps with front lines, control areas, reported strikes and footage, alongside plain-language explainers on what each conflict is about and what to watch.

What you will find here

  • The globe. Every theatre we track, sized by intensity, with a count of reported events in the last 24 hours.
  • Conflict pages. For each theatre: background, current analysis, a timeline, the parties involved and key figures. The largest wars have full battlefield maps with weekly snapshots, so you can see how lines have moved.
  • Live. News, video and reported events from every theatre in one stream, each item tagged with its conflict and time.
  • Learn. Guides to reading war maps, checking footage, understanding casualty figures and the vocabulary of modern war, plus a glossary.

How we work

BattleBytes is built from open information: news reporting, official statements, humanitarian data, satellite and sensor datasets, and openly licensed maps. We label claims as claims, name every party, and show how confident we are in each reported event. Some information is delayed on purpose so that nothing here can be used to put people in harm's way. We do not take sides. Map colors are a legend, not a verdict.

What we are not

BattleBytes is not an intelligence service, a news agency or an alert system. It does not have reporters in conflict zones. Nothing on the Site is suitable for operational use, travel decisions or personal safety; if you are in or near a conflict area, follow official guidance.

Who runs it

BattleBytes is an independent publication operated by Akiva Solutions. It is not affiliated with any government, armed force or armed group. It carries no advertising, sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
